Everything is here!!!

Joy of joys, our furniture and belongings have arrived. It was a cloudy Monday when I left an empty house in the morning to go to work. Lo and behold, the moving goddesses smiled on us and, as promised, the truck with our lives came at 11am. Don was there, I was at work, and by the time I found out and came home at noon, the truck was near empty!!

Thank you divine goddess, I said. Poof, the furniture was in the house and the boxes filled the garage and I didn't have to lift a finger. Turns out the Christchurch moving company hired 2 guys to join the driver and even Don didn't do too much other than tick off the numbered items list. This shot is before we loaded the living room with boxes--and switched these two couches.

Here's a before view of what the garage looked like with the small pathway to the back door, but no way to get to the washing machine. Chock full. In case you are wondering, yes we still have the car, it's parked across the street on the block car park.

Then Don worked to start clearing a path; we identified which boxes we wanted out of the garage right away and brought them in--luckily this gave us the breathing space we needed. We'll get to the rest at some point, but for the most part it ain't urgent. In fact, we plan to leave quite a number packed until we move again in about a year--why bother doing this twice, ya know?

Here you'll see the red couch is against the window and the brown couch is on the shorter wall--just worked better that way for us to be able to squeeze more of the bulky furniture into the house. And as you can see in this photo, we're about maxed out!

This is a shot of our bedroom from the back of the wall looking out to the door on the right. Hard to see much, I know, but that's because our massive bed takes up pretty much the entire space. I have about 2 feet on this side, but the other side is about 1 foot wide.

Our little girl was running from room to room all day and night as we worked. She clearly had enough and decided the second shelf in the hall closet was a better fit for her. That might work, until we load it down with stuff!

You won't hear from us for several days, we are finally off on a road trip to see more of the South Island, parts we'd not seen on our visit. We head to Christchurch on Wednesday, spend two days there and then off to the Banks Peninsula for two nights at picturesque Akaroa. Unfortunately the weather may not cooperate, but we'll bring you photos anyway. In the meantime we expect Livvy to have the house completely unpacked and all put away by the time we get back on Sunday! Cheers
